When our beloved animal companions cross over, they often reach out to us through telepathy; the gentle, direct sharing of thoughts, feelings, images, or knowing from one mind or heart to another; without words, sounds, sights, or any physical means.
You can keep a loving, open connection with your pet in the spirit world. One beautiful way is to invite them to send you a "postcard", a vivid mental image of where they are now, who they're with, or what they're happily doing.
Here's a simple, step-by-step practice to invite that kind of heartfelt exchange:
- Choose a peaceful, quiet spot, indoors or outdoors, free from noise, distractions, and electronics (turn off TVs, phones, computers, etc.).
- Surround yourself with protection by picturing a soft, sparkling white cloud of pure, divine light enveloping you completely.
- Sit comfortably and take several slow, deep breaths. Let your body relax and your mind grow still.
- In your mind's eye (your inner vision), clearly picture your animal companion just as you remember them, every detail of their face, fur, eyes, and spirit.
- Take three more slow, deep breaths, feeling how your breath gently links you to them across the veil. Breath is a pure connection to Spirit.
- Softly say their name, then invite them with love: "Please send me an image or picture of where you are now, who you're with, or what you're doing."
- Relax deeply. Keep your focus gentle on your breathing, don't force or strain. Simply stay open and receptive.
- An image may come right away, like a sudden flash or scene in your mind. Other times, it arrives later, perhaps in a dream, during quiet moments, or even unexpectedly during the day.
- Be patient and kind to yourself. Like any form of connection, this gets easier and clearer with regular, loving practice.
Practice often, with an open heart. Your companion is always eager to share their joy and love with you.
Many people find this brings deep comfort and a renewed sense of closeness. Trust whatever comes and know that love never ends.
